Day in the Life – State Employee

Hi everyone! Welcome back and thanks for sticking around!

So as I’ve mentioned before, I work in a Communications office for the State of Michigan.  Today for this post I documented what went on in my day.

This is how a typical day at work goes for me!

6:30am-7am= Wake-up! It takes me quite a while to get myself to wake up and actually motivate myself to get out of bed so I usually leave myself a little leeway when it comes to the alarms

7am-7:30am= Get ready and pack lunch. Unless I’m doing my makeup and hair all the way, it only takes me about 15-20 minutes to get ready. Today I just threw my hair in a ponytail and slapped on some mascara and called it good. Then I had about 10 minutes to make my morning coffee as well as my lunch.

I really enjoyed the professional look I had on today! A black blazer paired with a solid black tank top and skinny khakis.

7:30am-7:50am= The commute to work. I live about 15 minutes away from the office. I really enjoy the drive (minus rush hour traffic of course!) because I can just listen to the radio and catch up on what’s going on in the word.

8am-Noon= Work begins. Typically during the first half of the day, I take time to plan out the day ahead of me. This means checking my email, updating my calendar as well as make a checklist of everything that needs to be completed over the course of the day.

Here is just a small overview of what my workspace looks like. Part of my job is answering the phone and talking to reporters when they call so you can see the chart what all the phone numbers as well as sticky note reminders!

Noon-1pm= Lunch!! This has to be the best part of the day! by this time I am absolutely starving and ready to eat the food I packed earlier in that day. The office where I work has a cafeteria so I usually tend to eat there.

I have an hour-long lunch and it’s the perfect time for me to have some alone time and listen to music and enjoy my food before the second half of my day starts.

1pm-5pm= Work continues. My day continues with different mini-projects given to me to complete as well as continuing to take phone calls (I know super exciting right?!)

My shift ends at 5pm and I’m released for the day! Finally, I go home and eat dinner with my family and relax. Since it’s summer it really depends on the day how my evenings go. It could vary from hanging out with my friends, to watching Netflix, to shopping.

Tonight will be a Netflix night as I am exhausted from work today!

I hope everyone enjoyed! Don’t forget to likecomment, and follow!
